A layered composite panel is made in a vertical mold by inserting at least one covering layer against the inner surface of the open mold after treating it to enhance adhesion, closing the mold and filling it with polystyrene beads, followed by a low-viscosity polyurethane resin poured in through a number of holes along the mold's upper edge, polymerizing the contents of the mold under thermostatic control and extracting the finished panel. The layered composite panel (A) is made in a vertical mold by inserting at least one covering layer (1) against the inner surface of the open mold after treating it to enhance adhesion, closing the mould and filling it with polystyrene beads (21), followed by a low-viscosity polyurethane resin (22) poured in through a number of holes along the mold's upper edge, polymerizing the contents of the mold under thermostatic control and extracting the finished panel. In the pre-polymerisation state the polystyrene beads prior to expansion have a density of about 20 g/l and a diameter of 6 - 12 mm. After removal from the mold the panel can be cut to size and its exposed edges covered by adhesive strips.
