A data network (300) for dynamically delivering data content to a client (120), includes a core network (110); a server (150) having data content stored therein; and a plurality of distributed delivery members (130, 140) that contain a copy of portion of said data content of said server (150) to facilitate communication to the client (120). In response to receiving a data content request from the client (120) a tracker (155) requests a number of subtrackers (135, 145) to calculate a network distance from a respective delivery member (130, 140) to the client (120) to determine a preferred candidate delivery member (130, 140) to deliver the requested data content to the client (120).
