The present invention relates to an active matrix display device using a thin film transistor as a pixel driving switching element. The present inventionis comprising, gate lines in rows signal lines in columns pixels in a matrix arranged at the intersection of gate lines and signal lines a vertical scanning circuit sequentially scanning each gate line during one vertical period at least one H-P scanner outputting switching control signals for controlling each signal line during one horizontal period and at least one analog switch selectively switching video signals or a precharge signal to each signal line according to the switching control signals outputted from the H-P scanner and wherein the H-P scanner is sequentially driven during a unit horizontal period, and the precharge signal is first applied prior to the video signals during the unit horizontal period when each H-P scanner is driven.
