The protective bracket (5) covering the strimmer wire region not covered by the hood (4) has a first end (7) which can be secured to the hood in two different positions. In one of the positions the bracket will be in its working position and in the other position the bracket is shifted towards the operative side so that it adopts a resting position (6) where it does not protrude or only slightly protrudes beyond the hood. The bracket has a curved part (6) which extends above the rotation region of the strimmer wires when in the working position.
