Method for identification of inhibitors of ferredoxin: NADP reductase

Use of ferredoxin:NADP reductase (I) for identifying inhibitors (II) of plant (I) that have herbicidal activity. An Independent claim is also included for identifying (II) with herbicidal or plant-growth regulating activity by: (i) producing (I) by heterologous expression of the appropriate DNA in a transgenic organism or cell; (ii) using the organism (as such or as cell lysate) to screen compounds for inhibitory action; and (iii) testing identified (I) inhibitors for activity on plants.
