PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inhibiting decomposition of a peroxyhydrate of a quaternary ammonium salt to stabilize it. SOLUTION: This method for stabilizing the peroxyhydrate of the quaternary ammonium salt comprises adding 1,10-phenanthroline preferably in an amount of 0.001-1 mole % based on the peroxyhydrate of the quaternary ammonium salt to the peroxyhydrate of the quaternary ammonium salt composed of the quaternary ammonium salt such as a tetraalkylammonium hydroxide coordinated with hydrogen peroxide.
