PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that causes operation trouble and noise generation due to excessive looseness of a pulley belt in the case of decreasing speed with the pulley belt mechanism in a rack assist type electric power steering device. SOLUTION: A spacer 24 such as a shim is interposed between a mounting flange 22 of a first housing 21 holding an input pulley 28 and a mounting flange 23 of a rack housing 19 as a second housing holding an output pulley 29. Distance D between the input pulley 28 and the output pulley 29 is increased and a desired tension is loaded to the belt 30 by adjusting the thickness of the spacer 24. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
