PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling lawn mower capable of easily switching over a mowing and exhausting operation in which mowed lawn grass is gathered and exhausted from an exhaust duct and a mulching operation in which the grass is scattered so as to be spread all over the ground. SOLUTION: This traveling lawn mower is structured by attaching a rotary mower 8 to a traveling machine body 1 which is supported on traveling means, such as wheels, wherein the rotary mower 8 is equipped with a pair of right and left mowing blades 8a, 8b of which each has an axis approximately vertically positioned and rotates in the direction opposite to each other, a cover case 8c for covering the mowing blades, and the discharge duct 8d which discharges the mowed lawn grass outside the cover case by utilizing rotation of the mowing blades in the normal direction, so that the rotational directions of both the mowing blades are selectively changed by switching over the normal direction in which the mowed lawn grass is discharged from the discharge duct and the reverse direction in which the grass is not discharged from the discharge duct.
