FUNNEL STRUCTURE OF FLAT CATHODE RAY TUBE

PURPOSE: A funnel structure is provided to achieve improved explosion proof performance of a CRT by reducing the tension stresses generated from the panel and funnel of the CRT. CONSTITUTION: A flat cathode ray tube comprises a panel(3) having an inner surface on which a phosphor screen is formed; and a funnel(4a) encapsulated with an electron gun. The panel and the funnel are adhered with each other into a high vacuum bulb shape through the use of a frit glass. The thickness measured at the point of 0.1Z from the adhering surface of the funnel in the neck direction of the funnel suddenly increases, wherein Z is the distance from the adhering surface of the funnel to the reference line serving as an electron beam deflection reference position. As a consequence, tension stresses generated from the panel and funnel of the high vacuum CRT are reduced.
