PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner provided with a plurality of interfaces that implements exclusive control so as to avoid scan requests in contention from the host computer. SOLUTION: When a scan request comes from a host computer 2(1), an I/F control task T4 accepts it (101). A command analysis task T5 analyzes a command and transmits a scanner ensuring request to a job control task T2 (103). The job control task T2 sets '1' to a status flag to reserve the scanner (104). When a scan request comes from the other host computer 2(2) (201) when scanning (150), since the status flag is set to '1', the job control task T2 fails to reserve the scanner and the request is rejected.
