<p>A method of reducing spent oxide fuel, and a method of recovering fuel components as metal from oxide fuel by that method, the methods enhancing the recovery percentage of fuel components and eliminating the needs of peripheral treatments such as TRU recovery and waste salt treatment. Spent oxide fuel (2) to be reduced and held on a cathode (3) and an anode (4) are soaked in a calcium chloride molten salt (5) added with an oxygen supply source material in an early stage of an operation, voltage actually applied between the oxide fuel (2) and the anode (4) is controlled to up to the theoretical reduction potential of the oxygen supply source material and at least 1.5 V to reduce the oxide fuel (2), and, during the operation, oxygen ions freed from the oxide fuel (2) by electrolysis are used as charge carriers to promote electrolytic reduction.</p> |
