Automatic stop-start method for automobile IC engine blocks stopping of engine when air-conditioning is required

The stop-start method employs a stop-start device (16) with respective AND functions used for stopping the engine (2) when the vehicle is brought to a standstill simultaneous with engine stopping conditions being met and for re-starting the engine when re-starting conditions are met. An engine stop permit state is provided by the automobile air-conditioning unit dependent on the detected air humidity and/or temperature in the passenger compartment.
