The open fireplace (7) without a chimney which appears to be burning wood logs (9) of an artificial ceramic material, using a liquid fuel and especially ethanol, has a register burner (8) with three parallel burner openings in a base grid. A setting lever (6) regulates the flame. The burner chamber is of stress-free fine steel, bent at the upper section to take the base grid and two inserted grids where the lower grid can slide through the setting lever movements to adjust the flame. The upper grid is fixed to support the artificial logs. The three burner openings give virtually three burning chambers of different dimensions.
