Substd. quinazolinone derivs. of the general formula (I) - R = fluorine, chlorine, bromine, alkyl (1 to 5C), alkoxy (1 to 4C), alkylthio (1 to 4C), hydroxy, nitro, amino, cyano, acetamido, trifluoromethyl, or mercapto group. - n = 1,2; but if n = 1, R is not fluorine, chlorine or bromine and if n=2 the two groups R can be same or different alkyl, alkoxy, fluorine, chlorine or bromine - R1 = alkyl (1 to 5C), allyl or propargyl group but if n = 1, R1 = isopropyl group, and R = hydroxy, amino, cyano, acetamido, or mercapto group - R2 = Ph or in which - Y = fluorine, chlorine, bromine, alkyl (1 to 4C atoms), alkoxy (1 to 4C atoms), or trifluoromethyl group - Y1 = hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, alkyl (1 to 4C) or alkoxy (1 to 4C) and - Y and Y1 are not alkoxy if R = hydroxy or mercapto group. - The compounds show anti-inflammatory activity in the rat paw oedema test. In addition they have analgesic, antipyretic and antibradykinin activity.
