PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bobbin design for an alternator in which heat transmission from a field to a claw-like magnetic pole piece is improved, by increasing the filling factor of a field electric wire in a rotor. SOLUTION: A rotor assembly comprises a bobbin assembly, a claw-like magnetic pole assembly comprising an integrated hub which aligns it, a shaft accepted in the claw-like magnetic pole assembly, and a slip ring assembly on the shaft. The bobbin assembly comprises first and second thin end caps, a metal sleeve, an inside tape ring, an excitation coil, and an outside tape ring. Each of the end caps comprises inside and outside flaps. The inside flap is bent inwardly so as to adapt to the metal sleeve, and then the inside tape ring is wound around them. After the excitation coil is wound around them, the outside flap is bent inwardly. The outside tap ring is made to stick to the bent outside flap and the excitation coil. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
