<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a pulse dropout due to dirt on a scale for detecting scale position or the like, and to reliably move a component supply table to a determined position. <P>SOLUTION: A slide base 12 is moved by the drive of a linear motor 14 so that a specific tape cassette 13 is positioned at a suction/take-out station according to the mounting data that are stored in an RAM 63 to take out an electronic component D by a suction nozzle 9. After a first position mark 56 is detected by a mark detection sensor 53 with the movement of the slide base 12, and when a second mark 56 is detected within a distance (A/2-n) that is the shortest distance between position detection marks 56, then a CPU 60 reports to a worker by a reporting apparatus 70 and at the same time makes control for stopping an electronic component mounting apparatus 1.
