PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize such a function that enables even children to easily do a series of operations starting from identifying a toy up to providing information relating to the toy, and to provide a toy that is satisfactory in terms of both durability and cost due to addition of this function.

SOLUTION: Using the transmission of data which a noncontact data carrier system performs between a reader 200 and a toy 300, the reader 200 detects toy data stored in the toy 300. Based on the toy data detected by the reader 200, a personal computer 100 provides information relating to the toy 300.
