<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically renew a periodic meter inspection day of the next month after making a periodic meter inspection when setting the periodic meter inspection day to the end of the month. <P>SOLUTION: 99 is used as a sign for representing the end of the month for setting the end of the month such as 28, 29, 30 or 31 day as the periodic meter inspection day. The periodic meter inspection day is transmitted to a meter as 99 days by communication from a meter inspection center. The meter stores the 99 days of the end of the month in a storage part. When in a meter inspection day, determination is made on whether or not the day is month end renewal (Step S3). When the day is the month end renewal, a meter inspection month of next time is determined (Step S9), and the end of the month of a determined meter inspection month is set in the storage part as a meter inspection day of next time. When in February of a leap year, 29 day is set.
