MANUFACTURING METHOD FOR POROUS GEL AND INSULATING MATERIAL OBTAINED BY USING THE POROUS GEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for porous gel by which porous gel having fine pores is manufactured by a simple method.

SOLUTION: The porous gel having the fine pores can be manufactured by a simple method by hydrolyzing and polymerizing an alkoxy silane to form wet gel, subjecting the wet gel to hydrophobic treatment using an alkyl alkoxy silane and then drying the resultant material in a non-supercritical condition. An insulating material containing the porous gel has high insulating performance and can has thermal conductivity not higher than the thermal conductivity of stationary air.
