PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability about leakage prevention of laser light with respect to an optical connector housing a shielding piece for preventing leakage of laser light when attaching and detaching an optical cable plug. SOLUTION: The optical connector has a shielding piece 3 held in the connection end part of optical connector pieces 1 and 2 turnably with a protrusion 3a as the support point. When a plug 4 is not connected, an exit side optical fiber 10 is shielded as shown in Figure (A). When the plug 4 is connected, a protrusion 4a is engaged with a protrusion 3a, and the protrusion 3a also is moved in the groove of a through hole with the protrusion 3b as the support point is accordance with rotating operation of the plug 4, and the shielding piece which shields the exit side optical fiber 10 releases laser light in accordance with this movement.
