PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera having a slide barrier device capable of detecting the collapse of a lens barrel while realizing the miniaturization of the lens barrel and the camera. SOLUTION: The rotary barrel 67 of the lens barrel is extended while it is rotated by the opening operation of a barrier member, and a barrier lock member 81 moves forward interlocked with the extending operation, then a barrier lock part 81a is engaged with the barrier member so as to regulate the closing operation of the barrier member. The lightness and the darkness of the signal of a collapsing switch 82 are switched by making the position detecting part 81b of the member 81 get in/out, and eventually a microcomputer decides the collapsing position of the lens barrel.
