The invention relates to a static horizontal winder with orbital laying meant for forming large-size wire bales. According to the invention, the static horizontal winder comprises a rotary barrel (9) with a wire laying arm (10) integral with a shaft (7) of a winding drum (5), which has an extension (6) for taking over the wire and a rotary laying basket (12) provided with a screw transport mechanism (1) supported by two bearings (2) mounted on a shaft (3) embedded in a half-opened housing (4) located between a winding drum (5) and an extension of the drum (6) said shaft (3) being entrained in a rotation motion by the shaft (7) of the drum in order to lead the wire, loop by loop, to the laying basket (12).
