PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the variance in brightness of illuminating light caused by the existence of a dead space (ineffective area), in which internal light made incident on the inside of a light guide plate from an LED being a light source is absent, in the light guide plate with respect to a back light using the light guide plate. SOLUTION: With respect to the light guide plate which is made of a plate- like translucent material and performs optical path conversion of light from an emission light source 2 arranged so as to face a side face 1c thereof and emits surface-like illuminating light from an upper face 1 thereof to an illumination object, one or more blank holes 3 (recessed parts) having approximately square opening parts and having arcuate (cylindrical) corner parts in the bottoms are provided in the incidence side face 1c of the light guide plate, which faces the emission light source.
