PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an indirect transfer method image forming apparatus preventing so called abnormal images such as a void in a character or a worm hole, banding or deviation in alignment. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus where a toner image is transferred once to an intermediate transfer body 10 from an image carrier 40 and the toner image transferred to the intermediate transfer body 10 is transferred again to a recording medium crimped between a secondary transfer body 22 and the intermediate transfer body 10, the intermediate transfer body 10 is provided with elasticity and the secondary transfer body 22 is provided with rigidity.
