PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To downsize a camera by utilizing an empty space. SOLUTION: Portions of the sidewall surfaces of a film take-up chamber are formed of flanks 42b of a stationary tube 42. The film take-up chamber is provided with a film retaining spring 35 and a film retaining roller 37 and when the take-up amount of the photographic film taken up on a film take-up shaft increases, the roller 37 and the spring 35 retreat from the film take-up shaft and enter the inside of a groove 43 formed at the flank of the stationary tube 42. The groove 43 is formed nearer the central side (in the lower part of Figure) in the transverse direction of the photographic film than an exit section 48 of a date imprinting device 44 so as to be superposed in the feed direction of the film and therefore the thickness between the film take-up chamber and the stationary tube 42 can be made thinner and a contribution can be made to the downsizing of the camera.
