<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus wherein the reduction of productivity is prevented in the case of using a monochromatic/color original replacing device, as for the image forming device whose productivity is improved by making a process speed in a monochromatic mode differ from that in a color mode. <P>SOLUTION: As for the image forming apparatus for forming a color image by repeating a process of developing and transferring a toner image several times in the case of forming the color image, and for forming a monochromatic image by performing the process of developing and transferring the toner image once in the case of forming the monochromatic image, the device is provided with a process speed switching means for making the process speed at forming the monochromatic image higher than the process speed at forming the color image, and a monochromatic mode selecting means for selecting a monochromatic normal mode and a monochromatic speed priority mode, and only in the case the speed priority mode is selected by the monochromatic mode selecting means, the process speed is increased. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
