PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating organic waste capable of reducing biological reaction load in the method for treating an organic waste having a biological treatment tank for treating the organic waste such as a kitchen garbage crushed by a crushing means such as a disposer or the like. SOLUTION: The organic waste such as a kitchen garbage crushed by a crushing means such as a disposer or the like is subjected to solid/liquid separation by a screen or the like and a pressurization floating up is carried out. Thereby, contamination loads of BOD, SS, when the crushed organic waste is subjected to a biological treatment are reduced. The reduction ratio of the contamination load of BOD, SS is enhanced by adding an appropriate amount of a polymer coagulant thereto at the time of the pressurization floating up.
