PURPOSE:To provide a quench detector for detecting the quench of an oxide superconductor lead inserted into an AC current path as a power lead. CONSTITUTION:A pick-up coil 22 is provided close to an external lead 11 in a power lead 3 and the pick-up lead 22 and an oxide superconductor lead 6 are connected in series by measurement wires 23 and 24 so that an inductive electromotive voltage appearing between both terminals of the oxide superconductor lead 6 can be canceled by an induction voltage induced at the pick-up coil 22. Both terminals of the series circuit are connected to the input terminal of an amplifier 25, an output voltage V1 of the amplifier 25 is compared with a reference voltage V0 by a comparator 27, and a quench generation signal S is outputted when the output voltage V1 exceeds the reference voltage V0. |
