PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber array which has contactness between a lid part and an adhesion layer, is free of peeling between the lid part and adhesion layer and a position shift between the lid part and an optical fiber, and can accurately transmit a light signal. SOLUTION: The optical fiber array has a plurality of grooves formed in a portion of the top surface of a substrate and optical fibers stored in the grooves, and is fitted with the lid part which covers the optical fiber on the substrate across the adhesion layer. The part of the lid part which faces the substrate is roughened, and when the part of the lid part which faces the substrate is viewed in plane through a microscope, an image is observed as an image in which a plurality of particulate bodies are arranged. The mean particle size of the observed particular bodies is 0.1 to 100μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
