<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an optical element having excellent adhesion to a substrate, in which a polymerizable liquid crystal material is cured, while keeping the liquid crystal regularity. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the optical element comprises a step to prepare the substrate having an aligning function, a step to laminate a liquid crystal layer forming composition containing at least the polymerizable liquid crystal material on the substrate so as to form the liquid crystal layer having the specified liquid crystal regularity, a step to form an optical functional layer by irradiating the liquid crystal layer with radioactive radiation so as to turn the liquid crystal layer into the optical functional layer and a step to heat-treat the optical functional layer at the temperature higher than that of an isotropic phase before the polymerization (cross-linking) of the liquid crystal layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
