<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate unnecessary circuit operations for a semiconductor device to suppress power consumption due to leakage current. <P>SOLUTION: A block is made for each function, and power supply systems for these blocks are divided into two kinds of groups, one for a non-controlled power supply group 2 of which the power supply is turned on permanently, and the other for the control power supply groups 3<SB>1</SB>to 3<SB>n</SB>of which the power supply can be turned on or off. When a power supply system control means 5 of the non-controlled power supply group 2 outputs a control signal of 'power supply is turned on', a power supply switch mean 8<SB>1</SB>is turned on to make the control power supply group 3<SB>1</SB>into the state of released sleep, and a first processing means 6<SB>1</SB>starts processing for an intermittent operation. As a result of the processing, the control signal is outputted to activate a next control power supply group, only when a first means 7<SB>1</SB>for determining if a next processing is needed or not determines that the next processing is needed. Since blocks requiring no processing are not turned on, leakage current does not exist, hence, power consumption due to leakage current can be suppressed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
