<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a text and a technique for improving resolution of graphics wherein problems in the conventional resolution conversion are overcome and high quality rendering on high resolution equipment is performed. <P>SOLUTION: This high speed text/graphics resolution improving algorithm is based on a boundary parameter and uses chain code table lookup. When input expression containing text/graphics objects is applied, boundaries of the respective objects are traced, made parameters, smoothed and subjected to rendering. A command regarding critical process is stored in at least one lookup table (LUT) which is calculated previously, access is performed to the LUT during online process, so that a high speed algorithm of low memory requirement which is low of calculation cost can be obtained.
