<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller capable of remotely controlling a plurality of apparatuses. <P>SOLUTION: When a user depresses a menu button of the remote controller 10, an apparatus menu is displayed on a screen of a television receiver 12. The user selects a desired apparatus by using an UP button and a DOWN button for cursor movement of the remote controller 10. Since the operation menu of the selected apparatus is displayed on the screen of the television receiver 12, the user selects a desired operation. An MPU of the television receiver 12 references contents stored in a nonvolatile memory depending on the selected operation to select a control signal and a signal system corresponding to the operation, and a control signal transfer apparatus 16 transfers them to a control signal transmission apparatus 14.
