The receiver section of the right or left (2a) drop-out is shaped to take an insert (13) for hub or chain shift and the receiver (2a) opening (5) taking and holding the axle end is identical in shape and length on both left and righthand drop-outs, thus for either hub or chain fits. The insert (13) should be fitted to the outside of the receiver (2a) and the opening (5) starts as an oblique slot (6) to terminate inside in a horizontal slot (9). When the insert (13) is installed, the slot (9) corresponds to a slot (17) in the insert itself and the receiver (2a) also has an indentation (3) for the insert (13).
