A method and a system for sorting objects, e.g. particles or cells, contained in a fluid are described. The fluid is transported through a pathway network (11) comprising a plurality of pathways (18) and one or more branch points (16). The objects are analyzed by analyzer devices (24) and sorted by fluid flow controllers (26) provided at the branch points (16) based on the analysis of the objects.
