The stacking column has retainers (16) pivot-mounted in the column (10), whereby each two adjacent retainers are interconnected by an operating element (24) which acts together with a mechanical stop on the column defining a fixed angular position of at least one of the retainers. Each of the pivotable retainers has a support section (18) and a driving section (20), between which is located the mounting in the column. The operating element by a first side is pivot-connected to the driving section of a first retainer (161), and by the other side pivotably and movably connected to an adjacent second retainer (162).
