A transparent or translucent vehicle roof, consists of a plastic material layer which has a sandwich structure. The latter consists of numerous layers, of which at least one has a honeycomb structure. The structure is decorative and has a reinforcing layer made of fibre reinforced plastic (2), a honeycomb structure (3), a reinforcing layer, and a decorative film. The roof section is formed by cutting a thermoplastic skin material and placing it in a mould, placing the reinforcing plastic in the mould along with the honeycomb material, heating in a furnace or infra-red unit, cutting and pressing.
