The SMS message system on a mobile phone uses an address field containing the destination phone number. This number is selected from an ordered list held in memory. The process for sending an SMS message from one source mobile phone to another destination mobile phone includes use of an address field (7) for the SMS message. The mobile phone (1) includes a memory zone (6 or 10). This address field is filled by a called number identifying the destination phone. The first phone automatically offers to the user a called destination number, selected from an ordered list of such numbers held in the phones memory. The user may then select the destination number from the list of options presented to him.
