PURPOSE: A call service apparatus and method using a call forwarding function are provided to allow a user to make a long distance and international call when he/she inputs one-time domestic connection number in the same environment as usual. CONSTITUTION: An exchange judges whether a signal of a phone number for a call is received from a subscriber(401). When the exchange receives the phone number signal for requesting a call, it judges whether the phone number corresponds to a DID(Direct Inward Dial) call forwarding phone number stored in an internal database(402). If the phone number corresponds to the DID call forwarding phone number, the exchange sends a signal of the DID call forwarding phone number to a DID call forwarding gateway. Then, a database of the DID call forwarding gateway reads a phone number of a destination and information on a registered communication network, and transmits the phone number of the destination(403,404). A phone of the destination receives the phone number and a termination sound is generated(406). It is judged whether the phone of the destination is hooked off(407). If the phone is hooked off, a channel is connected(408).
