SYMBOL INPUT UNIT FOR VITERBI DECODING

摘要

PURPOSE: A symbol input unit for Viterbi decoding is provided to remove a RAM and simplify accumulator logics by operating independently a symbol input controller and a Viterbi main controller synchronized according to different clocks. CONSTITUTION: A symbol input unit for Viterbi decoding includes a symbol input controller(410) and a Viterbi main controller(430). The symbol input controller is used for forming frames for a decoding operation by using plural encoding symbols according to one data ratio of plural data ratios to perform a symbol input operation. The Viterbi main controller is used for controlling the decoding operation of a Viterbi decoder. The symbol input unit further includes a symbol input pause controller(415) and a decoding pause controller(435). The symbol input pause controller is used for pausing the symbol input operation after one frame is formed by the symbol input operation. The decoding pause controller is used for pausing the decoding operation after one frame is decoded by the decoding operation.
