PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ashtray for automobile with functions such as using comfort, simple extinguishing a half-smoked cigarette by inserting it only into an extinguishing hole, removing a butt automatically to be stored in the ashtray, cleaning the extinguishing hole deposited with ashes, and covering concealingly the butt, ashes and the like exposed therein to enhance an in-cabin environment. SOLUTION: A mechanism for extinguishing the cigarette, for storing the cigarette end and for cleaning the ashes is provided in the ashtray 1 and a tray receiving box 18 in a slide type ashtray unit, the mechanism functions automatically by opening and closing the ashtray 1, and a shielding lid 17 is provided in an opening part of the ashtray 1 to conceal the butt, the ashes and the like inside the ashtray.
