<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device for displaying the variation of pattern images with a feeling of palpitation which makes a player's interest last long. <P>SOLUTION: A pattern task or the like for controlling each pattern image is generated (U1). A background image is set by carrying out a background task (U2). The address of a task buffer region in which the pattern task is stored, is written into a sprite chain region by carrying out each pattern task (U3). A screen constitutive information specified by each address written in the sprite chain region transferred in a lot to a video RAM in order from the lower priority order side in a display (U4).
