PURPOSE: A portable tread depth measuring device for a tire and a measuring method thereof are provided to obtain abrasion information of the tire even if a tread section of the tire are irregularly formed. CONSTITUTION: A portable tire tread depth measuring device includes a frame(11), a triangle bar(12), a pair of cylindrical rollers(13), a servo motor(14), a laser sensor(15), a horizontal moving device(16), and a computer(17). The triangle bar(12) is coupled to a front portion of the frame(11) in order to allow a vehicle to enter into an upper portion of the frame(11). The cylindrical rollers(13) are coupled to the frame(11) so as to allow a tire to be positioned while rotatably supporting the tire. The servo motor(14) rotates one of the cylindrical rollers(13). The laser sensor(15) is positioned between the cylindrical rollers(13) in order to measure depth of the tread. The horizontal moving device(16) moves the laser sensor(15) right and left.
