PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet repeating apparatus in which terminals in a 1394 network are connected to terminals connected to an IP network such as a 802.x network or the like via a PPP (Point to Point protocol) connection. SOLUTION: The packet repeating apparatus comprises a means for transmitting/receiving a PPP packet having regions of GUIDE of a transmitting originator terminal and a register address (Unicase FIFO), a means for forming a table for managing correspondence of ID (GUID, register address) for identifying a terminal intrinsic ID, a session ID and a 1394 terminal when the packet is transmitted and received, and a means for retrieving the corresponding GUID and the register address from the session ID. Thus, the PPP packet is repeated from the terminal of the IP network to the terminal of the suitable 1394 network. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
