PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an unstable characteristic prevention flow streightener for a pump capable of eliminating the inconvenience in operating a pump by preventing generation of an unstable characteristic in a small water quantity operation range with a low output. SOLUTION: In a pump P provided with a plurality of straightening vanes 5A-5D in the upstream of an impeller 2, a passage 6 made of a pipe is fixed to the straightening vanes 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D by welding with its one end 6A opening in each low pressure region of straightening vanes 5A, 5B, 5C, 5D and the other end being closed to the entry on the tip side 2A of the impeller 2. When a swirl flow SW flowing from the tip side 2A of the impeller 2 to the downstream side of a sucking flow F is generated, the swirl flow SW is sucked in the other end 6B of the passage 6.
