<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for oxidative dehydration of alkane for forming the alkane in relatively small required energy, in relatively short contact time, in relatively high conversion or in combination thereof. <P>SOLUTION: This method for producing an olefin comprises (a) providing a three-dimensional support structure for supporting a catalyst, (b) providing a catalyst comprising a reducible metal oxide promoted with a Group 8 promoter metal on at least a portion of the support structure and (c) reacting an alkane with oxygen in the presence of the supported catalyst, and the reaction has a contact time of no longer than 100 milli seconds and provides a conversion rate of the alkane of at least 40%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
