<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, an image forming appara tus, and an image processing program capable of preventing deterioration in the image quality in expanding an image compressed by a block type compres sion method. <P>SOLUTION: An expansion section 1 expands received compression data. Then a block segmentation section 2 segments a restored image by each compressed block. Then an area discrimination section 3 discriminates whether the segmented block is a gradation area or an edge area. On the other hand, a quantization table analysis section 4 analyzes a quantization table in the header part of received compressed data to calculate the compression rate of the compressed data. Then a filter processing section 5 applies smoothing processing to the expanded image. When the block is in a gradation area, the processing section 5 applies the smoothing processing to the image according to the image compression rate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
