PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing unit capable of reliable management of data relating to clinical research.

SOLUTION: The data processing unit, which stores data for specifying a questioning or examination for clinical research and manages clinical research result data containing the results of the questioning or examination, sets a normality range to serve as the criterion for evaluation as to whether the result of a questioning or examination in the clinical research result data is normal. The unit receives and takes in clinical research result data transmitted by the computers of clinical research institutions conducting the questioning or examination, and determines the presence of suspicious data if any in the data specifying the conducted questioning or examination. The unit also watches for a result not falling in the normality range and, in the presence of a result falling out of the normality range, outputs a safety report with a warning of the suspicious data attached thereto.
