PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for ensuring the availability of a storage system. SOLUTION: In the system and method for ensuring the availability of the storage system 16, for example, this method comprises a step for providing a first iSCSI controller 30 having a first network address for processing an I/O request transmitted to the first network address; a step for providing a second iSCSI controller 32 having a second network address for processing an I/O request transmitted to the second network address; steps (90, 208 and 312) for detecting the failure of the first controller 30; and steps (210 and 314) in which the second controller 32 receives the I/O request transmitted to the first address and accepts the control of the first network address.
