PURPOSE: An apparatus for recording and playing audio at the same time is provided to record input audio and play back recorded audio signals at the same time. CONSTITUTION: A play head reads and plays audio signals recorded at an audio tape. An erasing head deletes and erases the audio signals recorded at the audio tape. A recording head records the audio signals inputted from the outside at the audio tape. The erasing head is divided into right and left channels capable of erasing only audio signals recorded at a random channel among the audio signals recorded at right and left channels of the audio tape. New audio signals are recorded at the channel from which the audio signals are erased, by using one channel of the recording head. At the same time, the audio signals recorded at the other channel of the audio tape is played by using the other channel of the play head.
